The Insurrection Act is coming...

This is the place I go to put my thoughts down about what I think is going to happen or maybe as an analysis of something that has already transpired. With some measure of urgency, I think now is a good time to talk about the Insurrection Act; what it is, how they intend to implement it, why they want to use it, and what we can do about it. 

I'll start with the Wikipedia definition here: The Insurrection Act of 1807 is the U.S. federal law that empowers the president of the United States to nationally deploy the U.S. military and to federalize the National Guard units of the individual states in specific circumstances, such as the suppression of civil disorder, of insurrection, and of armed rebellion against the federal government of the U.S.^[1] The Insurrection Act provides a statutory exception to the Posse Comitatus Act (1878) that limits the president's deploying the U.S. military to enforce either civil law or criminal law within the United States.

What does that mean to you and me at the height of a mass deportation program that they are starting to create a transit network in Texas to be able to funnel millions of Black and Brown people out of the country 24/7? It means soldiers in the streets of every major city. It means the wholesale rounding up of non-Whites and deportations to whatever country will accept them, until they don't. If you aren't aware of what happens when other countries stop taking refugees or deportees, you can see Germany in the '30s and how poorly it ended for 6 million Jews, gays, disabled, travelers, and any other "impure" communities that the Reich didn't feel lived up to the pureblood German ideal. 

Stephen Miller, the brains and bile of this administration, has taken charge and is very likely issuing executive orders with the autopen to start building a huge deportation/shadow military presence in the country that is unanswerable to any local law enforcement. They don't have to respect any law of any state because they are federal troops, and the federal government and Department of Justice are in the hands of Stephen Miller, Donald Trump, and the oligarchs. It's not enough of an army to subjugate a population that doesn't want to be controlled. Americans have a long history of enjoying their "freedoms" like "life, liberty, and the pursuit of justice," all of which are being challenged at this moment. The Pentagon has ordered up 500 national guardsmen from each state to form a QRF (Quick Reaction Force) to be ready by January in order to quell the public uprising. 

Ultimately, many people think this is all in order to get people used to having soldiers in the streets, and to intimidate elections in '26 and '28. They are trying to mandate that people vote in person, that votes be cast on the day of an election, and that the counting stop at midnight whether it's all counted or not. Also, counted by hand and not a tabulation machine. (This is impossible.) While that may be the intended goal of the insurrection act, how do they plan on launching it? What could be so bad that they could just say unequivocally that there is an "insurrection" happening in the country? Also, Trump just lies, as easily as he breathes, which means he could just say, as he has been about Portland, that "there's chaos on the streets, they are burning the city down, retail stores don't even have windows anymore." None of which is true.

The original plan, as I see it, was to label the protests like the No Kings march as Anti-Fa (Anti Fascist) and when there was violence, likely stoked by right wing agitators, Trump would declare the need for the Insurrection Act to militarize our streets and stamp out anyone speaking out against government actions.

That was the plan... probably. The 7-10 million people that protested in this country did so peacefully. So peacefully, in fact, that there was really no way to create the story that some kind of insurrection was happening. So, they've turned their attention to the next thing, they've started preparing for the election with this new Pentagon order. But the Insurrection Act is on Trump's lips now and he's getting ready to use it, and it's going to be the lack of food that is very likely going to be the trigger that gets pulled.

As you may be aware, as of Saturday, Nov. 1st, 2025, 40+ million families and individuals will lose SNAP benefits. This is what used to be called food stamps. Now, though, that help won't come. People who don't have huge pantries at home won't have access to food. Simply put, people are going to starve. Insurrections are only a few meals away at the best of times. Hungry people will fight and claw their way to food. 

This will be the violence they have waited so patiently for. This is the event that will truly end the American experiment.

So what can we do? We need to stand united. If you read my other pieces on here, we aren't as divided as the media would have you believe. There are outliers for everything: some people too far left, some too far right, but 90% of the country wants a roof over their head and neighbors they can rely on when FedEx gets the wrong house... again, goddammit FedEx! We need enough people to peacefully roll up through DC and over the White House lawn and into the Capitol to claw back their inalienable human rights that are being trampled on to power billionaires that hold more wealth than most of the country put together. 

I don't have any idea if the US military or National Guard soldiers will fire live weapons on American citizens, but we have 400 million guns in the country, and there will be hungry people that own them. I don't see how this ends peacefully unless someone is out there willing to lead a peaceful takeover of the government by the people and for the people. Meanwhile, keep an eye on your neighbors. If you know someone is dependent on SNAP or other social services, check in with them. As Mr. Rogers said, “Look for the helpers." In this case, be the helper. The cruel and spiteful people in this current government can't destroy the will of the free people of America. We are too strong for that.
